■コメント："You have to understand that Australia is a very new country and it's very vast. Japan has had many years to develop their public transport system and Australia cannot compare to that. Cairns' system is very wobbly if I may say so, so sadly it is hard for kids to do the same things as Japanese kids do if their parents work. Another point is that there are around 6 times more people in Japan as there are in Australia so their need for a transport system is much greater than Australia's. So most Aussies prefer to have cars."

■コメント："It was very hard for my mother because she would go to work early and not finish until after 7pm most nights. She couldn't pick us up from school so we would go to after school care until she could pick us up. It was very expensive to send us to this school care but she did not want us at home by ourselves."
（母が私達の送り迎えをするのは、とても無理だったわ。だって朝早くから7時過ぎまで働いているのだもの。学校のお迎えには来られなかったから私達はいつも学童保育に行っていた。費用も随分かかったようだけど、子供だけでお留守番するよりは良い、と考えていたみたい）

■コメント："Parents are always driving their kids somewhere, to sports or tuition or dance class. Sometimes you hear them joke that they feel like a taxi service. There is a sticker that I have seen on the back of cars that says 'mums taxi'. On the topic of student's workload, I think that it is very hard for some students because they are under a lot of pressure to study hard and do well at school and most of them have a part-time job as well. Some kids are very busy."
（スポーツ教室だろうが塾だろうがダンス教室だろうが、親は車で子供の送り迎えをしなくちゃいけないわけ。親はまるでタクシーの運転手みたい、と自分たちでジョークが言っているくらいよ。後部に「ママのタクシー」というステッカーを貼った車を見たことがあるわ。でも、子供の負担という面で考えると、そういったことが子供のためになっているばかりではないと思うわ。学校では勉強のプレッシャーがあって、放課後はアルバイト。子供達は忙しすぎると思うわ）
