I’ve been writing my blog in English, so that people overseas can feel what I’m feeling right now about the earthquake, Tsunami, fire, and accidents at the nuclear-power plant. I am not a politician, a scientist, a doctor, or a victim of the disasters. I haven’t even seen the disaster-stricken areas with my own eyes. However, I wanted to express my feelings to the dear locals of Cairns.
Unfortunately, the accident at the power plant took place. The areas around the power plant might be dangerous. However, from what I have researched, I believe that Japan has not been contaminated as much as most Australians think. On the 19th, 139 crews of the Tokyo Fire Department’s Fire Rescue Task Forces, regardless of the dangerous situation, hosed the nuclear reactor’s building. It seems to have cooled a lot. Of course, we still can’t foresee what will happen. I won’t say that it’s safe, but everyone, please don’t think exaggeratedly.
I saw the following words on Twitter.

Be careful of your thoughts, for your thoughts become your words; Be careful of your words, for your words become your deeds; Be careful of your deeds, for your deeds become your habits; Be careful of your habits; for your habits become your character; Be careful of your character, for your character becomes your destiny.
Commodities still haven’t reached the stricken areas. The victims are in great hardship. It is also very cold. When asked what they want the most, the most frequent answer was water. Next up was information, followed by music. It makes you think how important accurate information is. The stricken areas still don’t have electricity yet, so it is very difficult for the victims to get information.
On 20th, 9 days after the earthquake, an 80 year old woman and a 16 year old boy was found alive among the debris in the city of Ishinomaki in Miyagi prefecture. 217 hours had passed before the rescue.
I hope that planes from Australia come as scheduled. After things settle down a little, I hope that many tourists visit Japan.

今は、中途半端に日本についての報道がされ、そのままって感じなんですね。
おっしゃる通り、政府、東電の正確、迅速、的確な報道がなく、そこからくる不安感が招いているんです。私も友人と話しているんですが、今回の事故で初めて、スリーマイルやチェルノブイリのことや、原発、放射能漏れによる被害…ってなに…？と自分で調べ、少しでも分かろうとしているんだから、ケアンズ、豪州の人に、分かって！と言っても、難しいでしょうね。
でも、小さくてもできることからコツコツやっていくしかないなと思っています。
まだまだ、福島原発では、煙が上がったりしていますし、予断はできませんし。ケアンズポストの件、タイミングも大事ですよね。
悩み考える毎日です。
今日も、ブログは英語で発信するつもりです。 どうもありがとう。

いいアイデアだと思います。
なるべく多くの人にリサさんの記事を読んでもらうには私が個人で発信するメールでは限りがあるかなぁと感じていたところです。
オーストラリア政府によると「東京＋それ以北地域」へはまだ渡航禁止のようですね。福島原発からの避難区域についても日本が２０キロ圏内に対して８０キロ圏内ですし、安全の判断材料の基準が違うのかこの温度差はまだまだ大きいと感じています。
またこれは私の個人的な感想ですが・・・地震直後からの数日間、原発に関する日本政府＋東電からの情報開示が不明瞭だったためこちらの人々（主にメディア）の持つ日本から発信される情報への不信感が高いのかもしれません。残念なことですが。
偏った情報だけが流れることがないこと願うばかりです。
ケアンズポストの読者の声欄にリサさんのエッセイを投稿されてみてはいかがでしょうか？あるいはもっと大きい全国紙とか。ローカルでなくても取り上げもらえるかどうかは不明ですが・・・。
