Today, I will write from a different perspective.
We love soccer. I have some jobs related to soccer. However, soccer in general has been affected by the earthquake. J league started on March 5th. After one match, the earthquake came and since then, all the matches have been canceled. Japan Football Association announced all matches scheduled in March to be cancelled. But that is not enough, as some stadiums have been damaged. Also, the stadiums have been designated as evacuation sites for the people living in the 30 km perimeter of the Fukushima nuclear power plant. Some coaches and players from overseas have returned to their countries. It’s inevitable as the matches are canceled.
Away matches for the Asia Champion League have been held, but home games have been postponed. International games against Montenegro and New Zealand scheduled on the 25th and the 29th have been canceled as well. I guess there are many reasons for the cancellation. The stadiums’ safety cannot be ensured. There might not be enough electricity. It has been suggested that the matches be held in different places, but that wasn’t possible. I think the foreign players would be worried about the radiation, even if the news says that everything is okay.
There is a charity match on the 29th scheduled to be held in Osaka which is a central city in the western side of Japan. It will be between Japan national team and J league All-star. I hope that it will be broadcasted so that people everywhere can enjoy the match.
